Consumers are looking for ubiquity. They want to be able to consume personal data, business information and entertainment services anywhere, anytime. This means that operators need to provide real-time, up-to-date content, such as alerts or news flashes, as well as “snack content:” short shows, series, trailers and music videos. Some of this data will be consumed immediately. However, large amounts of content will need to be stored for future consumption.
Contentcasting is the answer to this massive user demand for time-shifted consumption. It allows multimedia content to be delivered for off-line viewing, and includes automatic content downloading & updating at planned intervals, content retrieval on demand, and content management at terminal side.
